The Codex Gigas, also known as the “Devil’s Bible,” is one of the most mysterious medieval manuscripts ever discovered. Created in the 13th century in Bohemia (modern-day Czech Republic), this massive book is famous for its gigantic size, unusual contents, and eerie legend that suggests it was written with the help of the Devil himself.

The Codex Gigas holds the title of the biggest surviving medieval manuscript ever written. With dimensions of 92 cm (36 inches) in height and a weight of around 75 kg (165 lbs), it is an extraordinary work of medieval craftsmanship. The book is so large that it would have required a single calf’s skin for each page, which is why scholars believe it was an expensive and time-consuming project. It originally contained 320 pages, though some are mysteriously missing.
